Employee of the Month of January!!!
Once again Montgomery Area Transit has selected quite an outstanding individual as their Employee of the Month. This month it’s Mr. Phillip Henry.
“Wesley” as he is referred to by his co-workers, has been a Montgomery Area Transit System employee since May of 1979. In that time he has exhibited dedication and enthusiasm for his position as an operator on a daily basis. His concern for his regular and potential regular passengers that makes him an excellent employee.
Mr. Henry is a very loving and caring husband and father. Normally a quite person, there are only three topics that gets him started on a lengthy conversation. The first is his son, Wesley, Jr. and next is hunting. But if you really have the time and want to be informed, just ask him about the stock market.

Donnie Phillips

|
William (Donnie ) Phillips was chosen Employee of the Month for February 2007.
Donnie is a giving individual who goes out of his way to accommodate his passenger, and the people he works with. He meets no stranger and will always find time to say hello and greets each passenger by name.
Donnie says he remembers when he started at the Transit Authority back in May 1965 when it was located on North McDonough Street and called National City Lines, he was quiet and didn’t talk much but that all changed over the years and he has been talking ever since.. He says the company has grown over the years and so has his family. He is married to Anne, his Bride of 46 ½ years, together they have two children Donna and Bruce Wayne, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren
He contributes his longevity on the job to the people he has worked with and the people he has come to know throughout the years. Donnie says coming to work is like being around old friends and family every day.

Congratulations John for being selected the Employee of the Month for March, 2007
John has been employed as afternoon service island employee for over a year and to date he has not missed any days off work. He has a good attitude and follows through with his assigned tasks. He is willing to help and do whatever is needed without complaining and works well with others and is willing to learn.
John says he likes all kinds of sports, he likes working in his yard and around the house and cleaning his cars.

Cornelius Williams

April 2007, Employee of the Month is Cornelius Williams.
Quietly, Mr. Williams has been an employee of the transit system for thirty nine years, starting out in April 1968, when it was located on McDonough Street. He is among the proud few that are still with the company that can recall what the bus system was like during that era.
Married to his wife Yolanda for eleven years and the father of three, Mr. Williams says he enjoys fishing and he is proud to have served the Montgomery Community as a bus operator for all these years and has no plans of retiring.
Congratulation Mr. Williams on being selected April’s Employee of the Month and to your many years of service.

May 2007, Employee of the month is Pam Harris.
Ms. Harris, a native of Long Island, New York, has been employed with Montgomery Area Transit System for a little over eleven months and serves as custodian for this facility.
Pam, a people’s person, has never encountered a stranger including animals, the mother of a seventeen year, she enjoys spending time with her daughter MaryAnn, whom she considers the light of her life. Asked about her hobbies, she includes singing, training dogs and did she mention singing as her favorite past-time.
Ms. Harris says she moved to Alabama to get away from the fast pace of New York and has encountered what she now knows as Southern Hospitality.
Congratulations Ms. Harris, job well done.

Rochelle Holt has been chosen as Employee of the Month for June.
Ms. Holt moved to Montgomery in 2005 after spending 16 years as a bus operator for a major transit company in Los Angeles, California.
Ms. Holt is a mother of three and says she enjoys grilling, doing home improvement projects and doing hair.
Rochelle started with Montgomery Area Transit in August of 2006 as an operator and has since been promoted to Street Supervisor.
Congratulations Ms. Holt, job well done.

Daniel R. Talley
|

|
Daniel Talley began working with the Montgomery Area Transit System as an operator in March of 2006. He is a very dedicated employee. He follows the rules and regulations without compliant. We are happy to have Mr. Talley as a member of the MATS team. Mr. Talley was born and raised in Montgomery. He served in the United States Army for two years and is a Vietnam Veteran. He and his wife Shirley of thirty nine years have one son, Danny. Mr. Talley retired from the Department of Corrections after twenty five years of devoted service. He loves sports, hunting, fishing, cooking and just enjoys like to the fullest. We congratulate you on a job done well Talley!

James Amos

Mr. Amos has been employed with Montgomery Area Transit System since July 2006. In this short period of time Mr. Amos has shown outstanding job performance and exceptional customer service relations. Mr. Amos previously was a 1st Sergeant in the Military in which he served for twenty two years. He also worked for the transportation department in Los Angeles and was there for twenty four years. Upon his retirement he moved to Alabama and began working with Hyundai for a few months before coming to MATS. He enjoys restoring old vehicles, football, basketball and home improvements. We are proud to have Mr. Amos on our team here at MATS. Congratulations Mr. Amos for being chosen as the October employee and keep up the good work. .

Julia McCall

|
Julia McCall began at Montgomery Area Transit System sixteen years ago as a Para transit bus operator in the MAP Department. Julia has since been promoted to Dispatcher in MAP where she has proved a valuable asset to MAP. Julia is an expert at her job and a professional in all aspects. Julia’s customer relation skills are unsurpassed as she takes great pride in her work. Julia has one daughter and loves to travel. Congratulations Julia!

Wesley Edwards

Mr. Edwards started with MATS as a bus operator in October of 2003. In the past years Wesley has proven to be a valuable employee. He handles his duties in a professional manner, being courteous to the riding public as well as to his co-workers. Wesley is always available to step in when need and does so graciously. We are very proud to have him as a team player. Congratulations Wesley, you deserve IT!
