Tim Omick

Tim Omick, the outgoing General Manager of Montgomery Area Transit System, was chosen the Employee of the Month for September 2006.
The concept of an Employee of the Month for Montgomery Area Transit System originated in January 2001 under the new leadership of Mr. Omick, giving a boost to employee morale.
Under the leadership of Tim Omick, Montgomery Area Transit System has consistently seen growth in its ridership for the past six years from 210,000 to more than 900,000.
Not only has ridership increased, MATS has undergone a major makeover of the antiquated fleet of GMC buses to the more comfortable Thomas SLF buses and replaced the entire fleet of Goshen buses with newer models. In 2000 MATS was operating three fixed routes and 15 DART (Demand And Response Transit) runs, since that time MATS has gone though 5 phases and implemented 16 fixed routes, regenerated the trolley and discontinued the DART service, and has placed bus shelters, benches and bus stop signs throughout the transit covered areas, not to mention the intermodal facility that is under construction.
The harmonious atmosphere at MATS is attributed to an open door policy as well as the hands on approach to problem solving that Tim employed.
Congratulations Mr. Omick and Good Luck in El Paso!
