Rufus Lewis started working for what was National City Lines in August of 1972. After twenty-nine (29) years of service, Rufus decided to retire this past August. Throughout the ensuing twenty-nine (29) years he has been an exceptional operator.

He has shown on not one occasion but many what an operator’s jobs should be.
If anyone has had the opportunity to be one of his passengers they would know exactly what that statement means.
Rufus has a tendency to go above and beyond the normal duties of an operator to ensure that his passengers arrived on a timely and safe fashion to their destinations.

Throughout his daily job he was constantly courteous, polite and friendly to his passengers and the general public as well. Whenever a passenger or a pedestrian had a question about anything he would do his best to answer.
Not only did he show this well-mannered attitude to the public but also to his fellow operators. Whenever a new operator started, Rufus would have a kind word of encouragement for that operator. He would share his knowledge about the operations of a route to help the new operator’s transition a little easier.

If one should ask many of Rufus’ coworkers to describe him, you would get a variety of answers. One word would be great. Not only is he a great operator but a great person as well. He was, no, is well liked by his coworkers.
So, congratulations Rufus. It has been a great twenty-nine (29) years. Enjoy your retirement.
